Buxton Festival

Wednesday 7 - Sunday 11 July 2010

This beautiful old Peak District spa town, with its gem of an Opera House, has hosted an opera festival for over two decades. It is now recognized as one of our most important festivals, and  includes a lively programme of concerts, talks and other events.

We will hear four operas by Mozart, Verdi, Cornelius and George Benjamin.

Mozart: Zaide

Cornelius: Barber of Baghdad

Verdi: Luisa Miller

George Benjamin: Into the Little Hill
London Sinfonietta

We will be staying at the grand 4* Palace Hotel close to the station and only a few minutes walk from the Opera House and the lovely Pavilion Gardens. Many of the festival events such as talks, recitals, etc. take place at the Palace Hotel. These events will be publicised in the programme which will be available in April.
