Ambronay Early Music
September / October
The ancient Benedictine Abbey of Ambronay, in the Jura region of France, just north of Lyon, has been the main venue for some of the finest Early Music performances since the festival began in 1980. We hope to receive the 2010 programme details by about March.
We stay in the family run l’Auberge Campagnarde in nearby Evosges, a peaceful village in the hills, ideal for walking and fabulous cuisine.

Wexford Festival Opera
20 - 24 October
We are planning a return visit to the famous Wexford Festival, in its beautiful new opera house. Wexford has always staged operas which are rarely heard elsewhere. The 2010 programme includes:
Virginia by Saverio Mercadante (1795 - 1870)
The Golden Ticket by Peter Ash and Donald Sturrock - based on Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
and Hubicka (The Kiss) by Bedrich Smetana.

5 - 9 November
Donizetti "L'Elisir d'Amore" at La Fenice and a concert of chamber music in La Prigione, next to the Doge's Palace .

Opera in Prague
November
Prague is a city with three beautiful opera houses and we plan to hear a performance in each of them. Guided tours of Prague and the Dvorak house at Vysoka are on the agenda.
