| | | | | | | Music in La ManchaTuesday 8 - Sunday 13 October 2013
John Whibley "Holidays with Music" holds its own chamber music festival in Cuenca, one of the most fascinating mediaeval cities in Spain, perched on top of a hill, in the La Mancha region. The old city is famous for its stunning views, hanging houses and artistic community. It is home to Spain’s National Museum of Abstract Art, as well as many other amazing art galleries and collections. Over the last few years we have built up a good relationship with the Holy Week festival committee and the town council of Cuenca. They have provided us with 2 wonderful venues for the concerts: The Church of San Miguel which has a superb acoustic for chamber music and the newly restored Church of San Andres, both 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

The Posada de San Jose is one of the most interesting hotels in Spain. It is situated in the old quarter of Cuenca which was designated World Heritage Status in 1996. Built in the XVIIIth century it was originally a choir school. It was bought by Antonio and Jennifer Cortinas who have restored it, retaining its monastic characteristics, and now offer contemporary comfort combined with excellent local cuisine and a stunning view over the Huecar River Gorge.
