Organs of Northern Germany

Wednesday 29 May - Monday 3 June 2013

Dieterich Buxtehude, composer, organist and professor to J.S Bach, worked closely with Arp Schnitger, the most renowned organ builder of the 17th century to develop new sounds and techniques.

On our trip we will be visiting some of the original Schnitger organs as well as 18th and 19th century organs by Bielfelt, Sauer and Furtwangler, who were influenced by Schnitger’s work. We will have talks and short recitals by Gordon Stewart. There will also be an evening concert.

We will be staying in the Baseler Hof in Hamburg and the Bremer Haus Hotel in Bremen.
